2-for-1 Saturdays

Originally Oct 25th and Nov 1st 2014

As I mentioned in the first post I define adventures loosely as "big or small." Potentially I wrote that so I did not set myself up for failure or  maybe as a cop out. Alternatively, some weeks are just not as exciting as others and that is OK.

These two weeks are combined, partially because these adventures are both small and better together and partially because I am trying to catch up to real time SATURDAYS. Here goes...

On October 25th, I had planned adventures because my cousin from Mexico was going to stay with me. Last minute plans changed and he stayed with his friends so I had to improvise.  On this Saturday I was hanging out with a friend from Australia that had never carved a pumpkin before or had a Thanksgiving dinner. The adventure of the day was to do both of these fall festive activities. Believe me it is an adventure in and of itself to be a girl carrying a pumpkin I bought at Safeway (aka Un-safeway) up the SF hills, so check box completed. I didn't stop there. I also tried to cook a "Thanksgiving dinner." The grocery stores in my neighborhood did not have stuffing which was essential and cooking a whole turkey was out of the question. I improvised with chicken and some stereotypical sides and called it a success. The attempt to cooking a half- Thanksgiving dinner set me up to be prematurely grateful for the effort it takes to make it from scratch. Thank you to my family for allowing me to eat my way through Thanksgiving without having to contribute to the preparations. I enjoy this part of our tradition the most.

On November 1st, I was exhausted. It was the night after halloween and I had been working early that morning because a product launched online. Thankfully I did not have to be at work at 5am, but I did have to check to make sure I did not break the internets for my day job. Both the early hours and previous day made this Saturday a tamer one. Saturday afternoon I went to Streatfood park in Soma to do a taste test of several food trucks and proceeded with desert from Bi-Rite. The latter is a SF staple I knew I had to try. It was delicious and my friend and I had a good time in Dolores Park people watching.

Dolores park is always a good time during the weekend. I do not need to tell a SF resident, but the park has people playing some sort of sport (including tight rope walking if you consider that a sport), dancing, laughing, and doing all sorts of bizarre activities.

My favorite Dolores Park activity are the free movies in the summer at night. I had friends, food, and drinks, but never enough blankets.

That's it for now. Hold tight because the next posts gets increasingly adventurous by Webster's definition, not mine.

Until Next Time. Stay Tuned.
