NY I missed you!

Originally: Oct 11, 2014

This was a special Saturday. One of my close friends got married. This may not be as exciting to the world as it was to me, but it was very special for a few reasons.

First, I had moved form NY to SF in July and had been back once to move out the remaining furniture and junk from the apartment I had sublet. This trip was the first time I would not have a NY address. It was the first time  I would be in town as a tourist in 4 years, my heart sank with sadness and anticipation.

Secondly, this was the first wedding of a friend from grad school. She is a great friend with great taste. The food, music, props, etc. everything was on par with my already high expectations.

Lastly, I was going to have time to spend (briefly) with some friends I had not seen. This only means two things in NY- eating and walking.

Below I listed out my favorite things to do when in NYC. I do not claim to be the leading expert and my closest friends know this list too well. Here goes...

NY highly recommended restaurants. Cheap, delicious, and finger-licking good:

  1. The Meatball shop! You have to try this if you haven't before. Most likely if you are my friend I have made you go on several occasions, at several locations, at a variety of hours.

  2. Blue Ribbon Sushi- So Fresh! It is confusing which location since there are two, but I prefer this one

  3. ABC Kitchen- The food is excellent. This is a tad more expensive then the others on the list. It is located in a furniture store which is unique

  4. S'MAC- the best mac and cheese ever. If you don't like Mac and Cheese you will. If you still don't then it is your fault because you could have made your own. My personal favorite--Parisienne

  5. Fresh & Co- healthy and addicting. I love fresh fast food and I miss this place all the time

Disclaimer: I do not claim these places are fancy or even worthy of a tourist attraction. I will say that when someone asks me what I want to eat in SF, my gut reaction is anger that these places are not in CA....yet.

My favorite things to do when friends were in town. Now that means when I am in town:

  1. The highline- covered garden/railroad

  2. Brunching- too many to choose from

  3. Chelsea Market- cute shops, especially for cheese lovers. Have to stop by the tacos or nutella crepes :)

  4. Comedy- there are so many good places. This one is free on Thursdays and it gets some odd balls which makes for an awkward and funny time. Better comedians- here

That's all for now.

Until Next Time. Stay Tuned.
