Quack Attack

"If you are happy and you know it quack quack if you are happy and you know it..." This is what I heard for about 2 hours on a Ride the Ducks land/sea ride.

Every time I  move to a new city I take an official tour of the city (usually by bus). It is usually pretty cheesy and meant for tourists with children, but it helps me to orient myself in the city  and it provides some historical information I would otherwise not have looked up myself. I had always wanted to go on a duck boat mainly because I wanted to see a car drive into the water successfully.  Even after the trip was over I think that was the highlight.

The trip started at Fisherman's Wharf, not my favorite part of town, but tit is nice for tourists. Then we drove through most neighborhoods. I remember best being in Chinatown and  Embarcadero because the driver made some particularly "adult" comments that stuck out in my memory. I think he was trying to appease parents and cater to an older sense of humor. It was a little odd given the average age in the boat excluding parents was 11 years old. The driver compensated for these awkward jokes by letting kids drive the boat. I was tempted to volunteer, but did not think it was worth sitting on this man's lap. For the sea  aka duck portion we floated around AT&T park for a while before heading back and concluding the ride.

If you are in need of a family friendly activity for your out of town relatives then this is a good option. However, if you are closer to 30 than to 15 and do not have children, then bring Advil.

Until next time. Stay Tuned.
